CIP Update: Concourse Park and Mountain View Park Improvements Scheduled for Kick Off

Spring is just around the corner, and that means warmer weather perfect for spending time outdoors! And what better place to enjoy the outdoors then at your local park! For those of you who live close to Concourse Park and Mountain View Park, you’ll be excited to hear that park improvements are just around the corner. Construction has begun, and includes the installation of new play equipment, shade structures, outside exercise equipment, landscape and irrigation improvements, new restroom buildings and other related site improvements. Business Watch Meeting
Wednesday, April 27

Lake Forest Police Services invites you to join us for the next Business Watch meeting – Knowledge is Power: Protect Your Business from the Inside Out. The meeting will focus on employee theft and fraud prevention. Space is limited for this free event, so please RSVP with your business name and the number of attendees by April 20 to Melisa Cavazos at 461-3546 or mcavazos@ocsd.org. A light breakfast will be provided. The meeting will be held at City Hall in the Lake Forest Community Center Room A (25550 Commercentre Dr.).

Bunny Blast: An Egg Wonderland
Saturday, April 16
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  

 Join us for a hopping good time! Enjoy a fun-filled day for the whole family with activities including game booths, crafts, face painting, a balloon artist, and an egg scramble. Delight in the entertainment, including a strolling magician, DJ, and music. And don’t forget the Queen of Hearts who will be holding court along with Alice and her Wonderland friends. Don’t be late for this very important date!

Fee: Free (nominal fee for games, activities and food)

Spring Breakout Camp
Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22
8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

 Spring Break is almost here, and this year instead of just sitting around the house all day, “break out” of your habit and join us at Spring Breakout Camp! Every day will be filled with awesome activities including games and mini-excursions and one major excursion – on Wednesday we’re going to Knott’s Berry Farm! During the camp, the student to staff ratio will be 8 kids to 1 staff member. Please note that kids will need to bring a lunch every day. Fee: $128 per participant (resident), $133 per participant (non-resident)

Spring Break Skate Camp
Monday, April 4 – Friday, April 8 OR Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Open to ages 6-17.

 Are you tired of sitting around all day waiting for something fun to happen? Here’s your chance to hone your skateboard skills and have an awesome spring break. Each day of camp will consist of instruction, activities, skateboard movies, trick demos, games, and a snack break. There will also be a safety and information clinic to ensure all campers know how to wear their gear properly as well as tune up and adjust their skateboard to feel the most comfortable. Skatepark staff will help improve upon skills desired by the campers. Each participant will receive an official Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest t-shirt with enrollment and a snack/drink each day. All proceeds go directly to keeping the Park free.

Fee: $195 per participant. Limited to 10 participants per session.

 Sleepy Hollow Hike
 Saturday, April 23
 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
 Open to ages 12+.

 This is a moderate hike of approximately 3 miles over some steep hills. The hike will encompass rolling hills of spring flowers and oak woodlands, including vista views of Whiting Ranch. The hike will also feature fire ecology and recovery from the 2007 Santiago Ranch Fire.

Difficulty level = Moderate

Fee: $5 (includes snack and water bottle)
Location: Concourse Park (18931 Saddleback Ranch Road)

The Gathering – Where Art Meets Skateboarding
Friday, April 29
6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

 The second annual exhibition of skateboard art and photography with those who create it, held at the best Skatepark around! Come enjoy lively music, a great atmosphere, and unique pieces of art. And remember, all proceeds go towards keeping the Park free. If you’re interested in displaying your artwork, photography, or assisting in this fundraiser, please contact Nick Gates (ngates@lakeforestca.gov). Space is limited, so call today!
